Presentation to Preservation Economics class at Penn

Preservation Program University of Pennsvlvania Preservation Economics Class

In February 2018, we offered an introduction to Main Street lecture for Donovan Rykpema’s University of Pennsylvania Historic Preservation graduate school class on Preservation Economics with Alex Balloon. We provided an overview of the history of the Main Street movement, the Four Points, and the Eight Principles. We talked about the relative roles of board, staff, committees, and stakeholders. Alex provided a case study about how the Tacony Community Development Corporation (our long-term client) has used the new Main Street Transformation Strategies to create projects for the Torresdale Avenue commercial district that highlight the current demographics and market for the Tacony neighborhood. Our talk was a resounding success, and brought Heritage Consulting Inc. several new interns.
