Book blurb for The Historic District Action Guide
William E. Schinkel’s book, The Politics of Historic Districts: A Primer for Grassroots Preservation, came out shortly before my book, New Solutions for House Museums in 2006. I thought it was an inspired and sometimes irreverent work that really told preservation advocates what to expect when they proposed a local historic district. Bill produced a second book in 2012 called Preservation Politics: Keeping Historic Districts Vital. AASLH asked for a back-cover book blurb for the revised edition, which combines both books, and is now called The Historic District Action Guide: from Designation Campaigns to Keeping Districts Vital. This new edition is a great contribution to the historic preservation field and its professional literature and is highly recommended. Find it on the AltaMira Press Website
